Nota biográfica
Margarida Nunes is a postdoctoral researcher at the INCIPIT (CSIC) under the Juan de La Cierva-funded 2025-2027 program (JDC2024-053901-I). Her current primary focus relies on the characterisation of written Heritage through multimodal approaches and data science for Heritage. In addition, she has been working on the development and testing of greener solutions for the conservation of written Heritage. Margarida completed a PhD in Chemistry (University of Évora), funded by FCT (SFRH/BD/147528/2019) in 2024. During this period, her work was centred on the analytical characterisation of Cultural Heritage artefacts, with an emphasis on historical manuscripts and iron gall ink-containing documents, relics and reliquaries, and photographic items through the use of analytical instrumentation. Furthermore, she designed and implemented monitoring approaches to study degradation phenomena on different Heritage artefacts via artificial ageing tests. In parallel, Margarida have been dedicating to science communication activities within several research projects, and recently she joined the team of Cartas com Ciência, a transnational non-profit organisation working with low-income communities in Portuguese-speaking countries to counter social inequalities through science, leading the communication and dissemination of this organisation.
