Resumo
In this work, the changes in the style of the main rock art traditions from Paleolithic to the Iron Age are analysed. Some rock art traditions, due to their long lasting through time, constitute a privileged form of material culture to studying historical processes on an exceptional chronological scale. No cultural tradition has been able to survive in time for more than 8,000 years except the rock art of some regions, these traditions began among hunter-gatherers and did not disappear until the introduction of writing.
