Resumo
The borderlands of western Ethiopia saw the establishment of monasteries from the 14th century onwards as a way of effectively occupying the periphery of the Ethiopian kingdom. Here we explore a specific Christian landscape that was documented archaeologically in the region of Metema during a survey.
