Resumen
During the charcoal analysis of archaeobotanical assemblages, from sites dated from the Bronze Age to the Roman Period in north-western Iberia, dendrological attributes were recorded in parallel with taxonomic identification. Among these, alterations to normal wood growth, such as scars, suppression of latewood growth and Compartmentalization of Disease in Trees (CODIT), are the most common. In this presentation, the following points will be discussed: firstly, which taxa are most affected; secondly, the contexts in which they occur; and thirdly, the most likely causes of this type of alteration of normal wood anatomy.
