Summary
XEITO is a scientific-technical infrastructure oriented toward ethnographic experimentation. Its purpose is to experiment with ethnographic fieldwork practice itself in order to theorize—and reconfigure—alternative ways of doing and thinking about ethnography, making them relevant to the communities we work with. In this sense, XEITO is designed as a space for action and reflection on new epistemological and methodological strategies for ethnographic creation based on artistic, experimental, and multimodal methodologies.XEITO promotes various internal and external actions. Internally, it offers support and advice to INCIPIT's scientific-technical staff to incorporate ethnography and new technologies into their projects. To this end, XEITO has a MediaLab equipped with professional audio and video recording and editing equipment, as well as specialized technical staff. Externally, XEITO fosters active collaboration with other institutions and agents, creating collective spaces for reflection on the relationship between research, artistic practice, and ethnography. Such is the case with the Incipit Artistic Creation Residencies program in collaboration with the Cidade da Cultura Foundation or the collaboration with the Centro Dramático Galego (CDG) on the theatrical work "Manuela Rey is in da house".INCIPIT ARTISTIC CREATION AND RESEARCH RESIDENCIESThe Incipit artistic research and experimentation residencies program is aimed at researchers, artists, and cultural heritage professionals interested in developing projects that integrate academic research with artistic experimentation. Conceived as a creative laboratory, these annual residencies seek to establish synergies with INCIPIT's research lines. During the stay, we foster the exchange of ideas and methodologies between resident artists and INCIPIT researchers, with the dual objective of deepening understanding of the heritage value chain and proposing new languages and ways of building knowledge through artistic practice and experimentation. The Incipit artistic research and experimentation residencies are supported by the Cidade da Cultura Foundation (Xunta de Galicia) through the REGA Artistic Residencies Program.2025 Residency | Ana Penyas [https://anapenyas.es]: "Habitar el patrimonio"2024 Residency | Matilde Meireles [https://matildemeireles.com]: "Arqueoloxía da festa"2023 Residency | Mari Luz Esteban, Andrés Rodrigues and Llorián García Flores [https://youtu.be/Q-taYHlFlYU?si=ggOhttfm2Q4RzhgC]: "Mudar la piel"
