Summary
This article analyses the current situation of archaeological journals, paying special attention to the Revista d?Arqueologia de Ponent (RAP). A total of 69 active journals currently exist in Spain. Most are published by universities or the CSIC, were established after 1970 and offer their content in Open Access. The RAP fits this pattern. Some of its main quality indicators (number of collaborations received, level of external authorship, etc.) show a positive evolution in recent years, which can be linked to the editorial changes made since 2009.
