Summary
Discourse analysis usually focuses on what is being said, following the text veryliterally, and pays little or no attention to the world to which the text refers. Weargue that considering the ontology to which a discourse refers as well as thetext itself provides a richer and more useful representation of the discourse. Tothis end, we propose the notion of ontological proxies, i.e. conceptual artefactsthat connect elements in the argumentation structure to the associated ontologyelements.
Keywords
Discourse analysis. Ontology. Conceptual modelling. Argumentation.
